Prompt Engineering Is Not a Verification Architecture

The weak point in an AI workflow is often not the model.

It is the absence of a verification architecture around it.

A model can generate a technically sophisticated answer and still be wrong at the exact point that matters most.

Serious AI systems therefore need separate layers for retrieval, validation, contradiction checks, and escalation when confidence is low.

A stronger prompt may improve an output. It does not replace the infrastructure required to verify that output before the business relies on it.

That is not simply a prompt-engineering problem. It is a system-design problem.

At what point does prompt engineering stop being enough and system design become the real differentiator?
